Black Friday!!!!

Every year we look forward to it! We almost look forward to it more than Thanksgiving and as much as Christmas. ALMOST. We talk about it for weeks and then when it finally comes and goes we want it to last forever. Sounds stupid, I know. But it is the one time of year we can pull an all nighter, get great deals and do our favorite things: Shopping and spending time with each other. This year we brought some new comers along. It is pretty normal for Katie, Shelby, Ashley, Eric(sometimes) and I to go but this year we switched it up a little. It was a full car this year...Ashley, Shelby, Katie, Allie, Chloe, Caroline and I went. We stocked up on our caffeine, got dressed in warm clothes and loaded up in my mom's large vehicle. We started out at Walmart where we stood by the dvd's for about an hour. We all split up with our partners and stood by different dvd's that we wanted. I stood by the Telivision series and luckily some very nice gentlemen were willing to help me get the ones I wanted, so I didn't even have to do that much work. When the horns went off at 12:01am the chaos began! We gathered up all the dvd's we wanted to purchase and stood in line for about a half an hour. Afterwards, we hit the South Towne mall! Nothing made me happier than going to wet seal, charlotte rousse, Newyork & Company, etc and seeing signs that said 50 percent off everything in the store! It was as if Christmas had begun! We spent hours and hours at the mall as we split up in groups and then switched the groups when someone had to buy a gift for someone in their group!
Around 5am some of the girls got sleepy so we went home to fuel up on thanksgivng leftovers and to drop of the dead weight! After the drop off it was just Katie, Allie and I! Went went to the Orem mall and went to the few stores that were open there. Then we went to Target at 7am and by then all of the good stuff was pretty much picked over. Allie got tired so we took her home and then headed to Best Buy! Surprisingly enough we were able to get the main thing we wanted at Best buy. Afterwards we headed to the Orem mall again because by now All of the stores were open.
I'm pretty sure by this time I was looking a little bit on the zombie side but I didn't care! We shopped for a couple of more hours and then our bodies were giving out even though our hearts still wanted to shop! So we went home around noon.
We slept till about 3ish and then we woke up and all the girls were ready to go out again, so we did! We hit the Provo mall and then we went to Chilis for dinner. The girls drank their weight in Dr. pepper(like usual) and we got 3 refills of the chips in salsa. What can we say? Shopping makes you hungry!
We finished up at about 12:30pm. We literally shopped till we dropped!

Happy Slapsgiving!!!

It was a great thanksgiving. Not anything like our normal thanksgiving! I stayed up late the night before helping my mom make pies. After hardly getting any sleep my mom came and knocked on my door the following morning at seven. I was soooo tired but nothing was going to keep me from learning and making my first thanksgiving dinner. Since we were finished with the pies all we had left was the rolls, turkey, ham, yams, mash potatoes, salad and stuffing....okay that was kind of a lot but WE COULD DO IT!!! Stuffing the turkey was interesting but a lot easier than I thought. My mom showed me how to make the rolls while I finished the chocolate pies and then we put took a nap because I wasn't going to be able to make it through thanksgiving dinner if I didn't sleep a little.
When I woke up I got the potatoes going and took a bath. Mom woke up and we threw the rest of the food together. Dinner was on the table by three. We usually spend thanksgiving with the family and all the cousins but this year we just spent it with our small family. As we ate we talked about a bunch of family memories and the food turned out really yummy! You appreciate it a lot more when you cook it! I never realized how much work my mom put into thanksgiving! Unfortunately after one big plate of food I was stuffed....at least I tried a little bit of everything.
After everyone was done eating we all went around the table and each wrote something we were thankful for for each person and then we read them to everyone. It was a great thing to do and even though we laughed and joked a lot of the messages were very touching!

Here are some of the many things I am thankful for.....

Total ECLIPSE of the heart!

Today was fantastic! It was one of those days where everything went according to plan. I planned on having the day off, which I did. I planned on going to Orem and spending the day with my sisters, which I did. I planned on having a GREAT day, which I did!
The day started off a little rocky when we went to "Pizza Pie Cafe". I have been on this so called "diet" for about two weeks. Yesterday I did a lot of sleeping and very little eating so the aroma of that food hit me like a ton of bricks! I was so hungry! I kept telling myself, " I got to be good, stick to the lettuce and mandarin oranges". But as we all know, animal food doesn't stick to your stomach and satisfy your taste buds, so I gave in and had some pasta! Man did I regret that! My stomach was not happy and I was not happy with myself! But my ongoing battle with food was not going to ruin my day!
Next, we went to a place that Eric would describe as something close to hell but to me it is the closest thing to heaven, right behind cheesecake(Mmmmmm), the mall. I actually made several great purchases and didn't feel guilty after making them(which was a first for me). I discovered that Shelby has an addiction to rings(she bought three) and that Katie and Shelby could become my two new favorite shopping buddies(lucky for you, Eric).
Last but not least, we went to see Eclipse! Ok, usually I would be one of those people who got midnight tickets for opening night but that energy died out after Twilight. We had plenty of people coming in to Chilis before and after their "Eclipse experince", I kinda felt like I was part of the crowd without even going to see it. My favorite were a group of women(probably around my moms age) that sat in my section because they claimed I looked like one of the characters, Alice. I had heard it before and was flattered but I was even more flattered when they left me a HUGE tip after spending awhile chatting like teenage girls about the movie. I didn't remember what a compliment it was to be told I looked like Alice! I freaking loved her in this movie! Which wasn't a big surprise because she is one of my favorite characters and is quite delightful in all the movies.
Some parts in the movie may have been a little over the top on the cheesy radar. But that almost made me love it even more because it is cheesy when a guy is saying romantic things left and right, that isn't real life, but it sure did bring out my giddy girl side! I just could look at jacob all day! I was a hardcore Edward fan when I read the books but now I am the middle...can you be a team Edward and Jacob fan? Because I think that is what I am. What about a team Carlisle fan? I could look at him all day...I can't think of a more dreamy, fictional character out there! In most cases I am not the typical girl and I may be going against the "cool" thing by saying this but I LOVED Eclipse! Thanks for the awesome night girls!

Lauren Mickelsen

I never knew a girl like her could become one of my best friends! She is happy all the time, super bubbly, outgoing, loud and peppy! She makes for a perfect host at chilis because anyone would be lucky to see her big smiling face when they walk into hell! hahahaha! I am so super grateful to have her in my life! She was the one person that constantly called me and text me when I was at bear lake to let me know I was missed. She makes work bearable and I love how she sends me texts telling me she missed me at work or to just tell me to have a good day! She is such a good friend! Love you Lauren! I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO TO IDAHO!!!

Shopping!

A girls favorite thing to do, right? Go to the mall with a group of friends, try on clothes, buy things!!! Not for me! Don't get me wrong...I love shopping for clothes just as much as the next girl but not usually with the girl friends. Its hard shopping with a bunch of girls with different styles than you, that won't give you honest opinions on your clothing and will talk you into buying something that you know you will never wear. We don't realize we are being pure pressured into buying certain things until we get home and realize we will never wear what we have boughten. Maybe this isn't how other girls feel but this is how I feel. My favorite shopping buddy is my husband. He tells me when he doesn't like something, he knows my style very well so he is very helpful at picking out clothes and he understands my anxiety of spending money so he understands when I like something but don't buy it and understands I will return it a day later if I do. This isn't the case on all things but there have been very little times that I have gone with my husband and came home regretting anything I have bought. He is the perfect shopping buddy(except for the fact that he hates malls and has turned into quite the complainer.
Anyway, back to the point of this whole thing. I found a girl who I actually enjoy shopping with! This has only happened a couple of time in my lifetime. Donna, my sisters, caroline, mary and my mom are all actually very good shopping buddies. Well, now I have to add Lauren to that list! We shopped for a couple of hours yesterday and I found it actually enjoyable! Lauren respects my fashion sense and gives me her true opinion when I try things on! It was a good way to start off my day off! There are some things I bought and actually won't be returning :)

summertime sensations!

Summertime sensations....you know what I am talking about...the things that make summer so great...the things that make summer..well, summer. Like eating an ice cream cone as it drips from the summer heat melting it. Walking around a carnival with that pink sugary, cottony, stuff that melts in your mouth and not from the sun. Laying out in the sun as you can feel yourself burning like bread in a toaster but you don't care because you like your body how you like your toast, a little on the brown side :).Well I discovered summertime sensations that I didn't quite knew existed.
Sushi! Now I am not talking about the amazing occasion where you save up your money and you and your fabulous husband go on a special night out and get expensive sushi. I am talking about when you are driving in your car with your little sister and cousin and you have all intentions of going chili's until spur of the moment at 4:35 in the daytime you turn the car around and spontaneously decide to go to sushi. See on a normal occasion this couldn't happen but because of Kate's extra time to do summertime chores and Caroline's extra time to have a summertime job...we had money and we wanted to go crazy! Which we did! We spent two and a half hours stuffing our faces until we literally couldn't eat anymore. We even got tempted to throw the last roll of sushi in the decorated tree behind us so we wouldn't get charged for leftovers. We didn't but I sure was full enough that I wanted to.
Ok for the best summertime sensation at all! Going tubing in the rain! The wind is cold so the water on your feet seems so warm. The choppy waters gives you that intense feel, almost on the dangerous side but still laughing and screaming. I wanted to do it all day but my arms only allowed me to last for a couple of hours before staying on became life or death. For those couple of hours it was just me, my amazing tube buddy, the wake and the large waves. No work, no stress, no cleaning, no bills to pay...just one focus...staying on the tube! Tons of screams, tons of laughs, tons of thrills...now that is my type of summertime sensation!

I love fashion. I like modeling for fun. but I hate fashion models.Girls who wear clothes that barely can be considered clothes, have long(fake) hair and weigh a buck-o-five. I look in the mirror in disgust and then try to remember what I am comparing myself to...a play boy model.
You look all over Utah and you see all these girls baking their skin until they look orange, starving themselves till they are the size of my "happy holiday" barbie that I got for christmas last year. Their blonde hair nearly falling out because of all the bleaching. When did being beautiful mean being sick. When did being beautiful mean looking like everyone else? When did beautiful go from looking like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn to Britney Spears and Megan Fox?
To me being beautiful is being being caring of other people. Being someone that people can trust and someone that people can consider a best friend. Being true to who you are and not trying to be like everyone else. Uniqueness is beautiful. Love is beautiful. Classiness is beautiful. Glamour is beautiful. Being smart is beautiful. But one of the beautiful things of all is self confidence and selflessness. I am gonna work on being just those things!

What beauty looks like to me:

One year older and wiser

I got asked the other day how is feels to be turning 22 this week. I thought about it and I couldn't think of one thing exiting about turning 22. I can already buy dry ice blocks to ride down on hills. I can already purchase alcohol to go home and pour down the drain or keep in my cupboard for when I become a alcoholic because of my job :)! I can drive, been driving for nearly 6 years now, only slightly better from when I just got my license, but now don't have the same enthusiasm to do it...in fact I hate it! I can date...but no need for that anymore...it sucked anyway...and I came up with the perfect solution! I got married! I now have a permanent partner to have tag along with me for all sorts of boring or uplifting events and I don't even have to dress to impress anymore...I can go in my pj's(even though I don't, in all reality I always look nicer than him :)) sooooo what is so exciting about this birthday? And then I realized all the things to be celebrating! In the past year I got married to my best friend in the whole world! I have learned the importance of everyday items such as toilet paper that drain your bank account. I have grown an appreciation for my mom and all the amazing meals she would have set at the dinner table each night, I hate cooking especially when I am the one paying for the ingredients! I have gone alot of sleepless nights without killing anyone from eric's snoring. I have had the great experince of actually begging for my period to come to know that I wouldn't soon become a mother when I can barely keep up with the child I married. I have had that great sigh of relief when hearing a tragic breakup story realizing I am done with that stuff(sorry Pam and Jen, I love you). I have dealt with my battles of rebellion(well most of them). I have grown a greater appreciation for eternal marriage and the gospel!
I have been truly blessed! 21 has done me good...I bet 22 can even do me better......

Righteous Jelly beans

Last week at our meeting with our bishop he mentioned how wearing a white shirt and shaving aren't things Eric NEEDS to do to go to the temple but our bishop mentioned creating a clean appearance. In a joking manner I asked the bishop if Eric showed up in a white shirt and was clean shaven next week would he reward me with a bag of jelly beans. My bishop laughed and agreed. The sarcasm that went on in the room I shrugged it off and didn't think much of it. This morning when Eric was getting ready for church I told him he had to shave and wear his white shirt. Love will make you do crazy things people...because he did it. and then eric showed up with this big thing of jelly beans when he got back home from his personal priestood meeting with the bishop. I was happy like a little kid who just got.....a big thing of jelly beans! We got jelly beans for being righteous and it rocked!!!!
